Iowa Archaeology Education & Outreach
The IAS makes a generous annual contribution to the Office of the State Archaeologist (OSA) education and outreach staff to help fund education and outreach activities across the state, but more support is always appreciated! On average, these initiatives reach 4-5,000 Iowans per year, include 1-2000 K-12 students, and cover a wide range of archaeological topics. When possible, the IAS also hosts education and outreach opportunities.
Douglas W. Jones Memorial Fund and Research Grant Program
The IAS offers an annual research grant in memory of Douglas Jones’ significant contributions to Iowa archaeology and history. Our goal is to support projects advancing those areas of research Douglas was most passionate about, including but not limited to paleoethnobotany, collaboration and consultation with American Indian Tribes, and the Underground Railroad, but all Iowa topics, historic or prehistoric, with an archaeological component are considered.
